Getting the most life from your tyres is actually a pretty simple thing to do, but we all forget how to do it or why we do it. I think i know a fair bit about cars but even i miss the mark occasionally as well.
You can see on this tyre here, the tread is worn very unevenly and what’s caused that is simply poor maintenance. So to get the most life from your tyres, every tyre needs to have air in it to perform at its best.
The tyre itself has a little rating on it that explains what the minimum and maximum tyre pressure is and also inside your car, either on the door or sometimes in the glove box it will explain the recommended tyre pressure for your car.
My tip is pretty simple, once a month go and get your tyre pressures checked, you can do it yourself or you can pop into a Rapid Tune service centre. Simply make sure the tyres are correctly inflated all the time and your going to get a lot more life out of those tyres.
Importantly the performance of your car is going to increase in all areas, and that includes safety. By having the tyre correctly inflated, the shape of the tyre is correct. This means that the most amount of the tyre and therefore the tread, is touching the road. This gives you the most grip, so therefore your performance and handling is going to be better, the car is going to stop quicker and more importantly its going to be safer to get you out of trouble if you need to.
