Now obviously we put petrol in our car almost every week in most cases, and you should check your tyre pressure regularly as well, but there’s another thing you should do regularly, and that’s check your oil level. It’s very simple to do, just pop the bonnet and look for the dipstick, that’s normally indicated with this yellow looped handle on the top. All you need to do is pull that out off the engine, clean the oil off of it just with a cloth or a rag, put the dipstick back into the engine, then pull it out one more time. Then check the oil level, so you’ll have two little indicators; a low-level and a high-level. If it’s at the high-level, you’re fine. If it’s a low-level, that means your engine needs a little bit of oil so it’s best to top it up. Another regular step worth considering is the washer filler tank. This is always used up when your cleaning your windscreen, so simply pop the washer filler cup again it’s marked with a yellow indicator, that clearly says what it is. Top it up with a bit of water, sometimes a bit of window cleaner in there helps as well, and that will give you a nice clean windscreen. Items such as power steering fluid, brake fluid, automatic transmission fluid or gearbox oil form part of a normal service check. If you’re not comfortable with these checks yourself, you can always pop into a RapidTune Service Centre, they’re all around Melbourne and the guys will help you out.
